A small dryer purchase turned into a big project!

Last year, a Comairco sales representative visited a plant who operates an internal laboratory used to test the products they manufacture.

The plant visited is one of many factories of this major worldwide roofing enterprise with more than 3,500 employees and more than 25 manufacturing plants in Canada, the United States, and across several European countries.  The company ships roofing products to 96 countries around the globe.

Once on site our sales representative noted that the piping needed to be revised to be more optimal for the new compressed air dryer.  By taking a closer look at the air network, it was also suggested to the customer to have a back-up compressor.  Should the primary compressor be shut down for maintenance or in the unlikely event of a failure, the second compressor would take over and the customer’s daily operations would not be disrupted.  The customer also agreed of the fact that a second compressor was necessary.

The second compressor (Shop-Tek model) was installed along with all the piping.  An external team took on this task.

As the relationship was well established with the client, when he expanded its facilities to accommodate a second laboratory, he naturally turned to Comairco for everything related to compressed air.  Piping and additional compressed air installations were also carried out.

Later, it was a question of transporting gases necessary for the operations of his laboratory, he had to transport oxygen and nitrogen between the cylinders and his laboratory.  He inquired if Comairco could help him with this gas management.  Comairco was therefore responsible for designing the pipe systems and an external team was responsible for installing them.  Comairco could also have provided a nitrogen generator integrated into the compressed air compressor, but their current use of nitrogen is too limited to justify such a purchase.

Quickly, an expansion project of the laboratory was required, once again without hesitation the customer contacted Comairco so that we could design the installation of the piping necessary for all the management of gases and compressed air.  An operation that was very well mastered by our team.

When setting up the enhancement project, a high-temperature dryer was ordered directly from the manufacturer and, to make matters worse, the company organizing the transport lost the dryer.  Knowing that this part was critical to the operations of the future laboratory, the Comairco team found a similar dryer in inventory at another branch.  We were therefore able to quickly install it at the customer’s.  This dedication of our team was greatly appreciated and the client knew he could count on us when a critical situation arose.  We were never going to leave a customer without compressed air, the priority for us is to have a functional compressed air supply.

Today the client operates internal test chambers for their manufacturing products to determine the guarantees offered on them.  He must use oxygen and nitrogen to carry out his tests.  The roofing products they manufactured are used for critical applications and must be subject to quality and conformity certifications.  Part of the tests that must be done are carried out by instruments partly operated by compressed air.  Comairco is proud to be a partner of this important laboratory.
