Creative solution with shipping containers.

A customer in northeastern Ontario wanted to purchase a new compressor.  The compressor had to be installed outdoors.

Our sales team was facing a major challenge related to the client’s limited budget.  To save where possible, we offered a creative solution to the buyer.  This one had a shipping container 20 feet long, so we proposed to transform his sea container into an insulated cabinet for his new compressor.

Its compressor was therefore shipped to our facilities.  On site, our team drilled openings for motorized shutters for the compressor air intakes and added insulation (2 inches of spray urethane) to the container.  The insulation absorbs compressor noise & prevents condensation. Heating has been added to guarantee the right temperature in the container to obtain the ideal operating temperature of the compressor, in our North American climate.

Compressor purchased by the customer is a Sullair model SN5509 (75 HP), also purchased was a desiccant dryer (With zero purge using “NO” air for purge for maximum energy savings), a vertical 240-gallon tank and an oil/water separator model Sullair SP40.

The Comairco team installed the compressed air equipment inside the customer’s sea container, added the compressed air piping, lighting and installed electrical wiring.  Once on site, the installation is done simply by a single air and electricity connection (plug and play).

Once these interventions were completed, all in less than 2 months, the container was shipped back to the customer’s site.

The customer was delighted with the container thus adapted to its compressors and plans to replicate the operation for other sites he operates.  This solution was economical and fully met the buyer’s expectations.

In this case, this solution was chosen because the customer already had its shipping containers and the cost factor was very high, but did you know that Comairco markets its own “All Weather Air” outdoor unit and more than 350 units have been sold in the past 10 years? These outdoor units are truly preferable to the shipping container. To discover all their advantages, we invite you to visit the site: https://www.allweather-air.com/

If you also plan to have your compressors outside, contact our sales team, we have several outdoor solutions to offer you, according to your needs and your budget while respecting the constraints of the North American climate!
